Grycksbo Paper is certified with FSC Chain-of-Custody. We can supply our customers with products that carry the FSC Mixed Credit label.
Chain-of-Custody is a verified system to show that the wood/pulp used to produce our products comes from well-managed forests according to strict environmental, social and economic standards. The sources of origin have been independently inspected and evaluated to ensure compliance with the principles and criteria that have been agreed and approved by the Forest Stewardship Council.
For manufacturers who provide FSC labelled products, FSC has introduced the FSC Mixed Credit label. This allows us to mix FSC-certified material with non-certified material. The non-certified portion has to comply with the FSC Controlled Wood standards, which enable manufacturers and traders to avoid unacceptable timber and timber products. The five criteria for unacceptable timber products under FSC Controlled Wood are:
-
Illegally harvested wood
-
Wood harvested in violation of traditional and civil rights
-
Wood harvested in forests in which High Conservation Values (areas particularly worth of protection) are threatened through management activities
-
Wood harvested from conversion of natural forests
-
Wood harvested from areas where genetically modified trees are planted
FSC Controlled Wood must be independently verified before it can be mixed with FSC certified material and become part of a product that can be sold as an FSC certified product carrying the FSC label.
Grycksbo Paper has conducted a Risk Assessment to verify that all our suppliers of pulp only use Controlled Wood, and that wood that conflicts with the above criteria to the best of their knowledge is excluded. This makes us certain that we can provide our customers with products that promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests.
